Italian Riviera Pictures

A few more pictures taken today in the lovely resort of St Bartholomeo Al Mare:

Camping Del Mare - St Bartolomeo Al Mare

WE arrived at Camping del Mare about 10pm last night and were immediately confronted with a very steep u-turn down a narrow back road before entering the Camp site to be confronted by a tunnel that was marked 3.3m high by 2.8m wide and our Van' is 3.2 high and 2.6 wide!  It was late and we had nowhere else to go so I went for it and slowly edged through with about an inch on either side of our large wing mirrors.... Once through we were then shown the pitch was tightly placed in a row involving a left turn that was simply too tight for our 8.2m Van'!!!!  By now we had a big crown trying to help as I edge forward and back getting more and more wedged in. Eventually I tried turning to the right and after several attempts got around and then backed down our row before driving forward and wedging us in our pitch!  We have three nights before I have to try and get out around the 90 degree bend and then through the tiny tunnel and up the u-bend. Not perfect but the resort and the beach is!  We are 30 steps from the sea and its warm and clear and reminds me of the Riviera in the late 60's films - just perfect:

Davos - Lake Como - Cervo

Raining in Davos this morning so driving to Lake Como via Juliere Pass and St Moritz pass featured on Top Gear. We decided to head for the Italian Riviera and kept driving past Lake Como then Milan and onto Genoa before heading along the coast to the Cervo area and finding a camp site called Camping Del Mare:

Davos - Rinerhorn Camping - Glaris

Second day in Davos.
We spent the day with our Friends the Harris' at the very nice Swimming Poll complex in Davos which includes an outdoor pool with a temp of 36 degrees C!. The weather today was not great but better weather is forecast for tomorrow. We will be using our free Davos Passes to go up several cable cars and do a few mountain walks tomorrow. 

On Thursday we will be heading for Salzburg via a stop off at "Alpencamp Am Wank" in Garmisch-Patenkirchen in Bavaria! We will be staying just outside Salzburg in Germany at a Camp site called "Camping Allweglehen" in the Berchtesgaden mountains.

Davos via San Bernardino Pass

We are about to set off for Davos to meet an English family we met in southern spain at Easter. We recommended davos and they are there!

Tenero Lido - Switzerland

Another sunny day another sunny Lido. This time a much more basic but very nice Lido on the shores of Lake Maggiore between Tenero & Locarno. This probably our last day on the shores of Lake Maggiore as tomorrow we are heading for Davos via the San Bernardino pass. This could be an interesting journey as we are not 100% sure that the pass is "do-able" in our 28 foot Camper! Last time in Davos we entered via the Fluela Pass (2383m) and we only just got through in first gear with the engine revs dying...   Weather is stll just fantastic at about max 85 and sunny with warm evenings but reasonable cool nights (with the aircon set at 20 degrees :-) )
