Ahus Strand (Nr. Kristianstad)

Two full days without wireless so this update is overdue! arrived in Ahus on Thursday evening. Its a nice beach village with busy sand beach and wooden pier much like a British resort in the 60's. There is also a huge heated outdoor pool, Butlins style, and a small Hotel. Weather has been great with sun every day and temperatures in the high 20's. The campsite is very nice with large grass pitches surrounded by Norwegian Pines and Spruce. Sue is jogging every night and Georges goes with her and keeps up well so fitness is improving further. I stick to bike rides as my knees are starting to creak! Alan (Smith) and Catrina, his Swedish fiance and mother of his 9 month old son Sean, arrived on Friday and we met up on Saturday afternoon on the beach followed by a great night out in the Harbour area of Ahus. Of course we ended up a little tipsy and were very lucky to get home as all cabs had disappeared and with James the walk would have been a nightmare. A Cab turned up out of nowhere in the end thanks to Cats mum Agneta. Woke with a bad head but set off to park in Agnetas garden for the night before setting off for Denmark (again) tomorrow.

Ahus Sweden - Regeboten Camping

Just arrived in Ahus near Kristianstad and have a nice pitch in a shady pine glade. We are in a Hotel reception near the beach as the site has no wireless. So far so good with warm Swimming pool, sand beach and clear water with sand bottom. More detail and pictures later...

Camping Dragso ****

Second day at Camping Dragso and the fantastic weather continues. Late start followed by bike ride then fishing off the rocks with George and 18 holes of Crazy Golf which appears to be the No.1 pastime in Sweden. Currently chilling out in bar opposite bay with PC and small bottle of Spendrups Premium Lager 2.1% (Normal beer in Sweden). Tomorrow we head for Ahus Camping near Kristianstad which will be busy as the sun seems to attracted a lot more campers this week.

Baltic Coast

We left Jonkoping at about 1.00pm and headed for the Island of Oland on the E31. after about 90 minutes we stopped at a lakeside picnic area and George & I fished the lake with spinners while James dug out as many stones from he bank as he could! We headed on and passed over the bridge to Oland at Kalmar at about 4.40pm. The first site we found at Morbylanga was a real Morbyminga and the owners asked us to pay in advance which is very unusual...We headed on around into the site and soon realised our mistake as although on the cost it was shabby and looked over a freight yard and resembled unused football pitches. WE decided to leave and asked the old Swede for our 240 Krona, he hesitated before saying that the cash was in the till and had therefore been transferred to the bank already! He simply would not budge even though we had been there for 5 minutes only. I decided to call in the big guns and soon Sue was leaning over the counter threatening police and trying to open the till! She headed off to find a Swede that could talk English and in the end the Crazy old guy handed her £200 Krona and we left. Later I reminded her we paid 240 but that £5 well spent as we ended at at Camping Haga Park 5 miles up the island which was really very nice and we spent two very relaxing nights there fishing and wading in the calm Baltic and giving the Van' a well needed clean up.

Today we left and headed south down the E22 to Karlskrona a town situated on several island bridge linked off the south coast. Camping Dragso is four star and has wonderful views at sunset and is situated on it own island. The boys have been on the beach, Sue has run around the site -twice, and I am sitting on a patio Bar sipping Tuborg Gold 5.3% while watching the sun go down and tying this. Probably stay here three nights then head along the coast to Ahus where we will meet Alan for a day or two. Plan after that is Copenhagen, Legoland then quick dash to Bavaria :-)

Karlskrona Camp Site "Drago Camping ****"

No Wireless

We at Camping Haga Park on Oland in South East Sweden but have no internet other than an office desktop so update will be tomorrow or later. All is well and its very nice weather.

Borgholm - Oland (Island)

Tomorrow we head for the Island of Oland off the est coast of Sweden linked by a road bridge. The weather report http://www.accuweather.com/world-forecast-15day.asp?partner=netweather&traveler=0&locCode=EURSESW008BORGHOLM&metric=1 for the next week is good with plenty of sun and temperatures up to 27 degrees. After that we head for Ahus where we will meet up with our friends Alan & Cat who parents live in Kristianstad nearby.

Rosenlund Badet & Lake Vattern

Today the sun was shining and we had a leisurely start to the day before we set off to the Rosenlund Badet about 500m from the campsite. Its the largest swimming complex in Sweden and consists of a Wave Pool, a Slide Pool, a children's Indoor Pool, a 50m Racing Pool, a huge Diving Pool, a heated 50m outdoor pool, and two outdoor children's pools! The boys had a great time to such an extent that when we got back to the site to prepare for a lakeside bike ride James fell asleep and stayed asleep for 3 hours.

We set of on the bikes with James asleep in the trailer and followed a trail along the coast of Lake Vattern until we found the Jonkoping Marina which is lined with very stylish fresh fish restaurants and chic bars. A strange combination of Zel am Zee and St Tropez! Just got back and after watching a funny film on 5 with George am now settled in the Bar with a Brygg Mastarens Premium Gold (5.7) very cold Swedish lager - enough said.
